We
expected this book to be"the ghillie suit construction manual",
but unfortunately it is not. Only the second chapter deals with
the actual construction of the ghillie suit and the rest is of
the book filled with "related information". The ghillie
suit construction part itself is fairly well written and deals
with variety of different kind of suits and capes. The author covers
the basic materials and tools needed for the suit in questionas
well as the actual costruction methods used to make the ghillie.
The real disappointment are the pictures, all the pictures in
the book are black & white. The picture quality is decent
enough, but in book like this color pictues here and there would
have made a world of difference. In fact the best pictures in the
book are on the front and back covers. The chapter about ghillie
suit history is good, but very short, only about 5 pages. The drag
bag section is equally short and describes only the construction
of a gun pouch of sort, not a proper drag bag. The stalking chapter
is also only 5 pages long and thus explains only the very basics.
If you need a manual for ghillie suit construction this book will
do the job, but a really good ghillie suit book has yet to be
published. |
