Title The Military and Police Sniper
Author Mike R. Lau
Publisher Precision Shooting Inc.
ISBN 1-931220-02-6
Pages 349
Short description Mr. Lau has managed to produce an excellent book in par with Plaster "The Ultimate Sniper". At the beginnnig of the book the author explains in depth the the USMC M40A1 an Army M24 sniping rifles. The fact that the author is a gunsmith spezialized in precision weapons helps to make this part very informative and a satisfying read. Stocks, scopes and scope mounting is also handled nicely in following chapters. The book then moves on to explaining ballistics (internal, external and terminal) and does that very well in our opinion. In good order the book ties the theoretical ballistic knowledge to different shooting situations inluding, uphill and downhill shooting, shooting moving targets etc. Chapter 14, "Tactical Scenarios" is propably our favourite, it has numerous priceless tips for the less experienced sniper and very likely something for the pro too. Lau's book doesn't cover snipercraft as widely as the Ultimate Sniper by Major Plaster, but the topics that it does cover it does it extremely well. The fact that the book doesn't say much about fieldcraft and camouflage is intentional as Mr. Lau's next book will be concentrated around fieldcraft, camouflage and concealment.
