The Pygmy Falcon is was sent to us for review by Maxpedition.
While the Pygmy Falcon is basically a fanny bag, it has
some extra features that make it more versatile and user
friendly than most regular fanny bags. To start with, the
Pygmy Falcon is made from heavy duty materials. The zippers,
the nylon and the buckles really give the impression that
this one is made to last and take some use and abuse. The
Pygmy Falcon has 4 separate compartments equipped with zippers.
The biggest main compartment is a 9" x 6" x 3",
the front one is 8" x 5" x 1.5" and the two
side compartments are 6" x 3" x 1.75". We
would say that it's quite enough of storage space. Any more
and you would be better of with a backpack anyway. Like
all Maxpedition products the Pygmy Falcon also has paracord
loops on all zippers so they can be easily manipulated with
gloved hands.
Use
Because of the 2" wide and sturdy "belt"
it's comfortable to use as a fanny bag, and you can really
strap it tight around you without discomfort. The wide belt
also helps to keep the bag in place even if loaded with
heavier stuff like ammo. If, for some reason, you don't
want to place the bag on your waist you can tuck away the
belt and use it as hand carried bag. For this purpose the
Pygmy has a separate handle that has two compression straps
attached. If either of these two options doesn't suit you
you can also piggy-back the Pygmy to an ALICE pr MOLLE compatible
gear with MALICE clips. There are nylon loops on both the
back and front side so you can attach it to your gear either
way. There are nylon loops on the side pockets also so you
have the option to attach smaller additional accessories
like cell phone holders to the Pygmy Falcon.
The only complaint we had after testing the bag is that
they could have added some Velcro inside main compartment
to allow the use of the Maxpedition universal CCW holster.
The
good
+ wide belt
+ versatility
+ ALICE & MOLLE compatible
The bad
- no attachment for universal CCW holster
