Mission: Calico Arms rifles
Intelligence:
| calico Light Weapons Inc. is a small, Oregon based producer of 9mm and .22 LR caliber pistols and carbines. The unique thing about Calico's is that they are fed from a top-mounted, helical-feed (think helix: DNA model), high capacity magazine that ejects spent shell casings out a hole in the |
| bottom of the receiver. If you reload 9mm, this design is entirely suitable for mounting a brass catcher. Calico magazines take high-capacity to awesome new levels, with magazines available for 50 rounds or even 100 rounds. Calico pistols and carbines use the same type of roller-delayed blowback principle used in the Heckler & Koch series of firearms. Needless to say, this system is exceedingly efficient and reliable. Calico had a superior product, but an unfortunate series of bad luck. The company was founded |
 |
| in 1982, and initial product reviews of their line of pistols and carbines were outstanding, but then Calico failed to secure contracts with the military, and after that, the Federal Assault Weapons Ban in 1994 limited capacity of auto-loader magazines, so Calico’s sales were severely limited, and the company went under. However, now that the Assault Weapons Ban expired, Calico is producing arms again, which is excellent news, because you know you want one! |
