.380, .40 S&W, and even 5.56mm. Yes, a 5.56mm pistol. Amazing, I know. Kel Tec is privately owned by George Kelgren is the owner and Chief Engineer at the company. Earlier, before venturing out and starting his own company, Kelgren had designed firearms for Intratec and Grendel. What’s impressive is that, for a privately held company, Kel Tec is the third largest producer of handguns in the United States. Kel Tec firearms are tactical in nature, and all down to business. The company is innovative in its designs as well. At the 2009 Shot Show, Kel Tec unveiled their new line of “High Efficiency Rifles”, which the company refers to as RFB, which stands for “Rifle, Forward-ejection, Bull-pup”. This line of rifles is cutting edge high tech. Each is gas operated and semi-automatic

| with a tilting breech locking system. All RFB rifles are chambered in 7.62x51 NATO (.308), and are offered in three versions: a 18” barrel carbine, a 24” sporter, and a 32” target version. There is a patented forward-ejection system that works via a fixed tube placed over the barrel, which ejects the spent shell casings forward, right over the handguard of the rifle. This innovation makes the new line of Kel Tec rifles able to be shot by right and left handed shooters alike. |
