| detachable box magazine. Like it’s AK brethren, the Saiga-12 uses a gas operated, rotating bolt. In addition, the Saiga-12 uses the same up-and-down notching safety on the right side of the receiver. There is also an optic mounting rail on the left side of the receiver. Since shotguns are rarely used to engage targets beyond 50 yards or so, the inaccuracy historic to an AK-47 at greater distances is not a problem. The intensely reliable nature of the Saiga’s AK-47 style action is a tremendous boon to the shooter. In that respect, the Saiga(Russian American Arms), to a large extent shares in the AK’s legendary reliability. |
