In the case of SIG, they purchased Sauer & Sohn, the German manufacturing firm. In October, 2007, Sig Arms officially changed their name to Sig Sauer, tripled their workforce, and invested 18 million dollars in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. Sig Sauer recently won a contract to provide sidearm pistols to the US Coast Guard, and another lucrative contract to provide the US Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement with SIG Sauer .357 pistols.
