mission: Tactical Rails
Intelligence:
it used to be that rails were only for mounting scopes. As little as a decade ago however, rails on firearms became multi-functional. Part of the reason for that is because they are so useful. With a rail affixed to a firearm, one can mount a tactical light, a laser, a range finder, a fore-end grip, or a bipod. Firearm rails come in two basic configurations: Weaver and Picatinny. Weaver rails are generally used for rifle scopes, and Picatinny, also known as mil-std 1913, is generally used for accessories like lights and lasers, and has notches across it to lock the accessories from sliding off. There are even quad rail systems that can replace the AR-15 fore-end grips, allowing the user to attach a variety of accessories at the same time. These types of rail systems are popular with our soldiers and Marines in the Middle East. The Marines like them because they can attach a laser range finder on the side, so they know the exact distance to their target. If you attach a rail for a scope, make sure that it is as parallel to the barrel as possible. If you need assistance, seek the help of your local gunsmith. Buying and installing a rail system on your firearm will open up a wide range of options you hadn’t previously had.
