mission: Butt Pads
Intelligence:
a sniper rifle is a powerful, precision firearm. As such, it can give off considerable recoil when it launches the bullet downrange. For this reason, many snipers, hunters and competitive rifle shooters alike affix a recoil absorbing pad to the end of their rifle's buttstock. Often, these tactical buttstocks are made of rubber. In addition to making the rifle more comfortable to shoot, recoil pads enable the rifle shooter to get the stock into the crook of the shoulder more easily and comfortably, and stay there more easily. One more advantage of having a rubber buttpad is so you can lean your rifle up in the corner with a hardwood floor and not have the buttstock slide out and the rifle go crashing down right onto the scope, like I had happen with my Ruger 10/22 with the hard plastic buttpad. Cheekwelds are another accessory that can help you shoot your rifle more accurately. The purpose of a cheek weld is threefold. First, it allows you to set up a proper sight picture when looking through your scope. Second, it aids in consistency. That is, with the proper cheek weld, you tend to bring the stock of the rifle up into position the same way every time. And three, a cheek weld helps you to make the rifle feel like an extension of your own body. This is important from the standpoint of setting up a comfortable, stable shooting platform. This helps you become a more accurate shooter.
