mission: .357 Ammunition
Intelligence:
the .357 ushered in the era of the “magnum”. Magnums at the time, in 1934, were actually big champaign bottles. The round was developed by Elmer Keith and Philip Sharp in response to the prevalent .38 Super being the only round powerful enough to pierce car doors and the improvised, metal bulletproof vests fabricated by gunrunners, gangsters and bootleggers of the time. In handgun circles, the .357 magnum enjoys the reputation of being a one shot man stopper. Yet, it is also an excellent handgun hunting round, with stopping power rivaling the .45 Colt, but with a flatter trajectory, since it actually has a higher velocity. The .357 magnum is available with bullet weights from 125 to 200 grain, and velocities from 1,200 to 1,500 ft / sec.
