mission: .30 Carbine Ammunition
Intelligence:
the .30 caliber carbine is the round that was fired from the M1 carbine that served our troops in WW II and the Korean war. The reason it was developed was to give support troops and rear echelon units more protective firepower than simply having the .45 ACP 1911 pistol. A carbine is sort of half way between a rifle and a pistol, and the cartridge that it fires is a rimless .308 caliber version of the old .32 caliber Winchester from 1906. The M1 carbine was issued to officers, paratroopers, artillery troops and tank crews instead of the larger M1s that were issued to the Infantry. The .30 caliber M1 carbine round is 110 grain, with a velocity of 2,000 ft / sec.
