In the world of sharpshooting the name of the game is accuracy and when it comes to precision shots at great distances, there is no better marksman than the sniper. An elite sniper is in a class of his own. His job requires extensive practice, extreme dedication and the appropriate gear and equipment to place the bullet where it’s needed with a single squeeze of the trigger. The true sniper rifle, therefore, is a highly tuned and accurate long-range firearm that provides the sniper with optimal performance in times of need. SniperWorld understands that a sniper is only as successful as the tools and equipment in his arsenal, which is why we feature a large selection of sniper
gear and
accessories at an affordable price. From informative sniper
manuals and
videos to
sniper rifles,
pistols and
ammunition, SniperWorld has a wide range of tactical sniper gear to help bring out the top sniper in you.
The world of a modern sniper is a complicated one. Fluctuating variables such as wind speed, trajectory, elevation, bullet grain, breath control and trigger squeeze must all be taken into account before pulling the trigger and taking the kill shot. Modern day sniper rifles fall into two distinct categories: military sniper rifles and law enforcement sniper rifles. Military snipers are trained to shoot targets from a concealed location at great distances. For this reason, military sniper rifles are designed to be more rugged and lightweight, because they are inevitably knocked around on the battlefield and must often be carried over long distances. Military sniper rifles also sacrifice a certain degree of accuracy in order to obtain higher degrees of sturdiness, reliability and repairability during the chaos of war. Many of the best snipers choose to use tactical sniper rifles such as the
Ruger® Mini-14,
Bushmaster® AR-15 Patrolman Carbine and
DPMS® Panther AP4 Carbine rifle.
Unlike military snipers, law enforcement snipers are trained for greater accuracy at shorter ranges. Over the years there have been many instances of police snipers shooting the gun out of the hands of a bad guy during hostage situations. While certain rifles were designed specifically to meet this need, many law enforcement snipers prefer to use tactical pistols such as the
SIG Sauer® P229,
Magnum Research® Desert Eagle Mark XIX and
Colt® Special Combat Government Pistol.
One of the most fundamental elements of a sniper rifle is the
scope. Unlike many other firearm scopes, the scope on a sniper rifle is long, telescopic and powerful, allowing the sniper to see further and shoot much more accurately. Firearm scopes come in a variable of magnifications, but a tactical sniper scope is generally greater than four power and can go as high as 40 power. The lens of a sniper scope is objective and usually between 40 and 50mm in diameter, which allows it to let a lot of light shine through. Some sniper scopes feature specialized and illuminated reticles that help account for bullet drop and windage and also permit night vision.

The
stocks of sniper rifles are considerably more adjustable than a normal rifle, since the more the sniper can get the gun to feel like a natural extension of his own body, the better his shot will be. Many sniper stocks have adjustable lengths and butt pads and some tactical sniper rifle stocks even have thumb holes and some sort of bipod attached to allow the sniper to fire his rifle from the prone position. The steadier a sniper can make his shooting platform, the more accurate his shot will be, which is why some sniper rifles feature stocks that do not touch the actual barrel. This is done to help reduce vibrations that may be too subtle for even the sniper himself to notice and will help to make his bullet placement all the more accurate. Many snipers also choose to outfit their sniper rifle with a quality
tactical sling. By locking his arm into the sling, a sniper is able to use the sling as a stabilization tool, which helps steady the rifle while the sniper prepares to shoot.
While the main tool a sniper relies on is his sniper rifle, the cartridge that is loaded into the rifle is equally as important. Most militaries prefer rifles chambered in 7.62mm, which will shoot between 800 and 1,000 meters. Late in the 1990’s and early 2000’s, however, a new type of sniper rifle came into existence; the .50 BMG rifle. Previously, this big round had only been used in the .50 caliber Browning® Machine Gun, which was almost exclusively mounted to a vehicle, but when used in a bolt action or semi-automatic sniper rifle, snipers were able to increase their range to between 1,500 and 2,000 meters. Regardless of which ammunition you prefer, SniperWorld has
ammunition to suite your sniping needs. From
7.62x39mm ammunition from Wolf®, Winchester® and PMC® to
.50 BMG and
.22LR ammunition and
12 gauge shotgun shells, SniperWorld has a cartridge to pair with your sniper rifle.
In the world of sniping, fieldcraft refers to the sniper’s ability to use cover, concealment and camouflage to blend into his surroundings. One of the most basic fieldcraft techniques that snipers use to help go undetected is the
ghillie suit. Generally, a sniper will make his own ghillie suit out of an old pair of Battle Dress Uniforms (BDUs), some netting, shoe repair adhesive and old burlap fabric and a jute cord. The sniper will sometimes add padding, vents and extra pockets to his ghillie suit to make his low crawl more comfortable. Depending on the environment, snipers will even insert plants, dirt and mud into the netting of his suit to help him blend in even more.
